I use Astaxanthin for several reasons: to lower cholesterol, prevent macular degeneration/ cataracts, and it is a great antioxidant and contains carotenoids. Also as added benefit my skin glows, shows no discolorations and is supple. Every time I stop using Astaxanthin my joints start "crackling" again (I am 61).
